Between 1847 and 1848, the esteemed artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi created his celebrated series, "Stories of the True Loyalty of the Faithful Samurai," portraying the legendary 47 ronin. This set of 51 prints offers intricate portraits of each ronin alongside key figures such as the spectral Hayano Kampei, Lord Hangan, Lord Moronao, and a devoted retainer. The scenes vividly capture the ronins’ daring night attack on Moronao’s mansion, alternating between intense combat and moments of respite. Published in 1917 by Yoshikawa Kobunkan in Tokyo, these Taisho-era reprints honor Kuniyoshi’s exceptional artistry and masterful depiction of these iconic warriors. Each print measures 3 1/2" by 5 1/2".
